Comprehensive Excellence in Medicine: A Brief Overview of Lanzhou University Second Hospital's History and Achievements

Lanzhou University Second Hospital stands proudly at the foot of the White Dagoba Mountn and along the banks of the majestic Yellow River. Founded in 1928, this esteemed medical center has been granted the status of a Class A Grade 3 hospital, evolving over eighty-four years through the collective efforts of numerous generations into an innovative hub for healthcare that seamlessly integrates medical care, education, and research.

Geographically located within Lanzhou's bustling downtown area on Cui Ying Men Street, our hospital offers unparalleled convenience with its excellent transport infrastructure. The Zhigong Hall, a notable site in Qing Dynasty times, served as the original location of what is now known as Lanzhou University.

History of Lanzhou University Second Hospital dates back to 1928 when it was established under the name Lanzhou Zhongshan Hospital - the precursor institution from which our hospital has evolved today. In 1932, an attached hospital named Zhong Hospital was founded by Gansu College and in 1935, following a government decree, it was renamed to Gansu Provincial Lanzhou Hospital before being rebranded as the Attached Hospital of National Lanzhou University in 1948. The name changed agn in 1949 to become the attached hospital of the Medical College of Lanzhou University and became autonomous on January 26, 1953.

Today, our hospital is a beacon of excellence within Gansu province's healthcare landscape, consistently ranking at the forefront with its various research institutes and medical centers. We are proud of our achievements in pioneering studies through these platforms.

Equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities, we utilize advanced equipment including ECTs, Digital Tomography CT, 64-slice G-Type CT, DSA, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging NMR, microscopes, CRRT devices, and more. Our extensive array of testing, monitoring, imaging diagnostic technologies ensures that our patients receive the highest quality care.

In terms of global outreach, Lanzhou University Second Hospital encourages over one hundred medical professionals annually to enhance their skills through international exchange programs. We have established long-term partnerships with esteemed institutions such as McGill University, Singapore International Management Academy, Mie University, and Oklahoma State University. Furthermore, we have successfully formed cooperative agreements with more than twenty renowned universities and hospitals in countries including the United States, Britn, Germany, Japan, Israel, Australia, Norway, Sweden among others.

We are committed to serving society and deeply uphold our principle of serving for people. We actively participate in social welfare programs such as providing free eye operations facilitated by ORBIS, a global non-profit organization. Additionally, we have conducted numerous charity campgns including a program med at assisting families with congenital heart disease and the establishment of The Gansu Province Hearing Disorder Treatment Center.
