Announcement: Integration into the National Network for Rare Disease Treatment by the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University

Recently, under an initiative med at strengthening management and treatment strategies for rare diseases while safeguarding patients' rights and interests, the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China has established a National Network of Rare Diseases Diagnosis and Treatment Cooperation. The esteemed Lanzhou University Second Hospital has been acknowledged as an integral part of this pioneering network.

This national initiative is designed to provide centralized care and two-way referral systems for patients, harnessing the force of national medical resources optimally. Its primary goal is to elevate China's comprehensive capabilities in rare disease treatment by facilitating timely detection, accurate diagnosis, and effective management of such illnesses. Based on recommations from provincial medical departments and expert consultations, a total of 324 hospitals were selected as part of this network1 national leader, 32 provincial leaders, and 291 member institutions, each boasting exceptional clinical expertise and an extensive patient base.

As a proud participant in the National Network for Rare Diseases Diagnosis and Treatment Cooperation, Lanzhou University Second Hospital takes on the responsibility of providing specialized care to rare disease patients while facilitating referrals to leading hospitals when necessary. Upon referral, these cases are then managed following their established treatment plans through consistent follow-up procedures.
